Dr. Mesa is a general cardiologist with special expertise in coronary and peripheral vascular interventions, as well
as in nuclear cardiology and echocardiography. After obtaining his M.D. degree with honors from The Escuela Colombiana de Medicina University, in Bogota, Colombia. Dr. Mesa went on to complete training in
Internal Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. He then completed training in Cardiovascular Disease at the St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital/Texas Heart Institute, Baylor College
of Medicine. He completed one year of echocardiography training,and subsequently did one year of Interventional cardiology at the same institution. During his training at The Texas Heart Institute, he
performed research dealing with important issues of women's health care including heart function during normal pregnancy and stress echocardiography as prognostic indicator.
In addition to women's
health care, his interests include gender and age-related differences in the cardiovascular arena.
Dr. Mesa is not only Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, but member of numerous medical
and honor societies as well. He currently holds an appointment as Clinical Instructor at the Baylor College of Medicine and actively participates in the training of medical students, residents, and
cardiology fellows.
He is Diplomate in the American Board of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology. Also, Diplomate from the American Society of Echocardiography,
American Board of Nuclear Cardiology and American College of Cardiology Electrocardiography.
He has authored and co-authored several different publications. He is fluent in English and Spanish. |
